This is one of those days where I really hate computers. After installing Office 97 yesterday, I tried to fire up Access to work on a project for school. I got a message that said "This machine does not have a license for Access." Huh? I just paid good money and I don't have a license? So I reinstalled it, and got the same message. Word and Excel worked, but not Access. I decided to check out Microsoft's website and it turns out that there's a conflict between a font that is used with Microsoft Publisher (which I had a demo of at one point) and Access. So you have to rename the font, reinstall Office and then name the font back. How annoying.

So I finally got that fixed, and now my e-mail won't work. I can receive mail (I'm using Outlook Express 5 if you were wondering), but I can't reply or forward or anything. So I installed Outlook 97, and now that doesn't work either. So I signed up for a Hotmail account and now I'm using that. I can't figure out how to fix it either. I've tried installing, uninstalling, backing up files, deleting things, and nothing is working. I hate Microsoft. I'm going to send them some hate mail, I think. I know Bill Gates is just trembling in his billion dollar boots.

So after all the build-up, I tried to do the Advanced Tae-Bo yesterday. I am so uncoordinated. I did about 15 minutes of it and nearly dropped dead of a heart attack, not to mention that I hit myself in the head once and almost fell down another time. I think I'll stick with the Basic for a while. But it's nice to know that at some point, when I'm starting to feel fit, I can do the Advanced and get my butt kicked by Billy Blanks.

I can't believe the semester is almost over. All of my final projects are coming due at the same time. This wouldn't be so bad, except that they are all group projects, which means that we have to try and find days and times to meet. Luckily, because I'm doing an independent study, my time is fairly free. But everyone else in my group has like 2 hours free a week, and of course no one has the same two hours. We all stand there with our planners and say things like, "How about Sunday at 8 a.m.? Is anyone free then?" and then someone else says, "No, I have a meeting for my Systems class then and I won't be out until noon. Can we meet at noon?" and another person says, "No, I have an internship interview at noon on Sunday. What about 3?" and someone else says, "No, I have an intramural flag football game at 3. How about 7?" and someone else says, "No, I have a family obligation at 7." You get the picture.

So I made a Director movie last night for class. If you don't know Director is a program made by Macromedia that combines images and sounds. On the web, you can view these movies via Shockwave. Lots of times, it is used to create ad banners, or if you ever see the little Shockwave logo while something loads, and then you get to watch a movie, that's made with Director. It's weird because I make this site using DreamWeaver, another Macromedia product, so the interface was familiar. And our professor has showed us a million ways to make things. But when I sat down to do something on my own, I was completely stymied. (Isn't stymied a funny word?). I was clicking and dragging and doing all kinds of things, and nothing was working. Perhaps the fact that it was midnight led to my frustration. Finally I sort of figured it out. Then I tried to take my movie, and make it into a Shockwave file so I could put it on the web and everything went to hell. And it was 12:30 and I just wanted to go home, so I left. But hopefully at some point I will figure it out and put it up on the web, so you all can see my handiwork. I know you can't wait.

I forgot to eat yesterday. I don't like to eat before working out because it makes me feel like I'm going to throw up. And I didn't work out until 4:00 what with all the Office 97 installing. And then I barely had time to grab a shower before I left for my group meeting at 6:15, and I didn't get home until nearly 1 a.m. All I ate was a couple of rolls I grabbed on my way out the door, and a piece of pizza left over from Jim's dinner. And a Pepsi. And a handful of popcorn at my meeting. I think if I was busier, I wouldn't be so fat. Of course, I used to work 10 hour days, and I didn't lose any weight, so there goes that theory out the window.

That's all for today. Please don't be shy about e-mailing. Even just to say hello.

So apparently Julia on Party of Five is going to have a lesbian love affair with a character played by Olivia d'Abo. This show just gets worse and worse. I don't have a problem with people exploring their sexuality and all, but could Julia NOT be in a relationship for five minutes? You'd think since her divorce, she'd want to spend some time living her own life. Instead, she got involved in an abusive relationship, finally got out of that, and now she's going to have an affair with a woman?

So you build a website, and you want to give it a name. You may be too late - a study done by Wired News shows that the list of domain names is rapidly dwindling. Luckily, fresh-hell.com is still available.

Are you or someone you know expecting a child in the next 9 months? You can take this quiz to try and figure out whether it's a boy or a girl. Of course, you could just get an amnio test, but that would be too easy.

And once you find out if it's a boy or a girl, you can check out some baby names! (No, I'm not pregnant, I just thought these sites were cool.)

Traveling to another city and want to sounds like a local? Check out the Slanguage page, where you can learn the right terms to fool the natives.
