Do
you think my hair is really longer on one side, as it appears
in that picture? I think I just curled it under on the left
and not on the right while I was blow-drying it. Also, what
is up with the bags under my eyes? And also, I asked Jim to
get me a gift certificate for a salon brow waxing for Christmas,
because they are looking unruly and I am a bad plucker. So
that's all the news about my head.
I was working on this project at school, but ultimately I
had to drop out of it for a number of reasons. Chief among
these was that I don't have time for it, and I'm not sure
what posessed me to say yes in the first place. I think it's
because I'm a "people pleaser" and I hate turning
people down. In reality, it probably would have been a lot
easier for everyone involved if I had just said no in the
first place. I need to work on that.
I found that someone linked to me and I was all excited about
finding a new journal, until I realized that she hadn't updated
since March of last year. If you really want me to read your
journal, just link to me and then click on the link so it
shows up in my referrer logs. Guaranteed visit from me.
So I got an American Express Blue card because I am a pathetic
consumer. Also, because I figured I could transfer my other
credit card balance to it and pay it off at a lower introductory
interest rate. So it came in the mail yesterday and I called
today to activate it. While I was talking to the guy, I was
checking out their website. The thing is, it was too wide
and thus I had to scroll sideways a little bit to see the
whole thing -- this is on a 1024 x 768, which is a little
bigger than average screen resolution. So all the people using
600 x 800 are really screwed! I thought about telling the
guy on the phone, but like he cared.
I was listening to Yahoo! Radio this morning and thinking
about my old college roommate, Sue. Sue had the worst taste
in music EVER! This is no secret as I used to tell her that
to her face all the time. I was trying to figure out why I
knew all the words to "Long Distance Love Affair (Telefone)"
by Sheena Easton and I realized it was all Sue's fault. She
was also partial to the "Urban Cowboy" soundtrack,
which explains why I know all the words to "Lyin' Eyes"
by The Eagles. She even liked "Staying Alive" better
than "Saturday Night Fever". I wonder what old Sue
is up to these days. We fell out of touch after college. She
was a good person though, and extremely generous. Sue, if
you're out there, e-mail me already!

Speaking of referrer logs, some of the phrases people searched
for, and ended up at my site, crack me up. I get a lot of
"naked Lil' Kim" (because of the MTV
Music Awards recap). Some of the best lately have been
"girls without no underwear", "surprise party
invitation" and my personal favorite, "things to
make me laugh."
Salon has an
interesting interview with Scott Butterworth, the co-founder
of SonicNet and now head if iMTV. I appreciate that he has
a long history online, if five years counts as a long history.
Reese
Witherspoon will play Rachel's kid sister on Friends (thanks
to Mary for pointing that story out to me!)
Here's an
older Salon interview with Jay Chiat, formerly of Chiat/Day
advertising. Having just done a report on web content providers,
I found his comments interesting.
