Hey, we've got some new subscribers to the notify list! Welcome one and all. Remember, if you want an e-mail every time I update my journal, go here. Plus my notify list might get extra little tidbits from time to time. If you want to get an e-mail every time I upload something Real World related, go here. You can be on both mailing lists, one or the other, or neither. It's all up to you. I haven't talked about softball in a while. I haven't been going lately because it stopped being fun. That's about all I'm going to say about that. Except this: if you get mad about not playing, either quit, make your own team, or shut up. Whining to your other teammates isn't going to help, and it doesn't win you any friends. What a mess that whole thing turned out to be. I'm glad now that it wasn't a co-ed team. I went out to lunch today with Terry, Stimp and Erik. Erik is a friend of ours from college who is working in Germany right now. He came home for a wedding and is spending a few days in Syracuse. It was good to see him. He'll be in Germany for another year. He said he'll be back at Christmas. We had a good time. We went to Friendly's because it's about a block away from my house. We got talking about Behind the Music, and what a great show that is. And we kept repeating the line from the Poison one in a C.C. Deville voice, "It went from a house of whores to a house of horror!". That cracked me up. We were probably the only people under the age of 60 in that place. I always forget that since Terry and Stimp work at schools, they're home all day right now. Even so, they both seem really busy! But we could get together for lunch or something once a week. If only I had a car during the day! I found out that my next door neighbors are not in fact running a cult. They are Mormons. That explains the home schooling, the billions of children and more. It does not, however, explain the dad yelling at his kids so loud on Saturday night that I could hear it in my house. I thought about calling the cops but then it stopped. That happens about once a month or so. But I can't hear exactly what the dad is saying, so maybe he just talks really loud. And I never hear kids screaming or crying, so I guess everything's OK. I need to get a life and stop worrying about my neighbors! Thanks to those who e-mailed me yesterday and confirmed that I was, in fact, right about the Gap being popular in the 80's. Thank you! I love vindication. I don't care if it's immature. I'm still looking for suggestions of band sites that you think are cool, either because of content or design, doesn't matter. Oh, and Mary and I are going to see American Pie tonight, so I'll have a review tomorrow. I'm expecting a dumb teenage sex romp, so we'll see if it meets my expectations. |
Warning: clicking on these links will launch a new browser window. A British university is offering a degree in Science and Science Fiction. I bet if they offered a distance learning program, they would have a lot of takers. A bunch of sites are sprouting up that offer easy ways to publish your bookmarks file online. Two applications of this are: if you travel a lot and want to be able to access your bookmarks from anywhere, or if you want to run a personal weblog/portal service. This is interesting (there's that word again) especially if you like to play that search engine game where you type in your own name and see if you are listed. I never am. Test your bandwidth speed: Today I'm at 140.1 KB/second, which is almost T1 speed. Yesterday it was much slower. The Buffy season finale got good ratings. Duh! It's summer, there's nothing else on. I still think one of the struggling teen dramas or new fall shows should do what 90210 did back in the day and air new episodes in the summer. That's what hooked me on 90210 in the first place. |
