So, I survived that college reunion.

Friday, Pam (my college roommate) and her husband Dave came into town. I haven't seen Pam since her wedding three years ago - and she now has a 2 year old daughter and another on the way. We went out to dinner and caught up on our lives.

Then we went to our class party. First, it cost us $30/person to get in. We thought that would be fine since it had an "endless buffet". Well, the buffet consisted of cheese and crackers, fruit trays, and some guys carving up roast beef and turkey that you could put on dinner rolls. That was it. They did offer an open bar, but I'm not much of a drinker. You'd have to be a pretty big drinker to drink $30 worth of Labatts Blue in 4 hours, in my opinion! I guess I should just look at it as my way of donating money to my school. Now I don't have to feel guilty when I toss out those donation requests I get in the mail.

Only about 30 people showed up from my class. Luckily, one of the other girls I lived with my senior year, Alison, showed up with her husband. Also with them were Steve and Amber, who I knew pretty well. So we hung out with them all night.

I said hi to a few other people, but I really wasn't friends with any of them in college. I realized that the people I WAS good friends with in college I still see - namely Terry, Stimp, Mary and Randy. And Jim, of course, but I didn't meet him until the very end of my senior year.

We hung out there until about 12:30 or so, then headed home. Saturday morning, Pam, Dave, Terry and I went out to breakfast. That was fun, because Terry is always a good source of funny stories. And Pam was grossing him out by talking about how the baby moves around and you can see her stomach moving like in Alien. I thought that was cool, but Terry was kind of grossed out. To top it all off, I got 2 eggs, toast and bacon for only $3. You can't beat that price.

Then, Pam, Dave, Jim and I went to meet our friends from the night before at a BBQ they were having up at school. Since we had just eaten, we didn't want to pay the $8 for food, so we kind of hung out outside under a tree and talked to people as they went in and out. We decided to go and see supergush play that afternoon since we had nothing else to do. I had never been to the place they were playing, but it was called Bud's Lakefront Cafe. I figured they might have a nice deck or something overlooking the lake, and it might be a little cooler up there being on the water and all. I definitely should have asked someone who knew before telling all my friends to go up there, because I couldn't have been more wrong.

To be continued...

I am proud to say that I did NOT get sucked into this weekend's Real World marathon. Much. I did watch about 6 episodes of L.A. on Saturday night, and about 3 episodes of Seattle last night. But that's not much.

I actually am kind of sad because I wanted to watch some of the older seasons that I haven't seen in a long time. But it's MTV - they will be on again, and soon.

I don't know why I am so obsessed with The Real World, but I know I'm not alone. A lot of the online journals I've checked today cop to getting sucked into the marathons as well.

And in other news, it's really hot again here. We are supposed to reach record temperatures today - low 90's. My kingdom for some AC!

There's a new trailer for The Blair Witch Project up - thanks to Jim for letting me know (and aren't you supposed to be working?)

Back in the day, analysts used to refer to giant corporations as Big Dumb Companies because they didn't "get" the web. Recently, those BDCs have started to catch up, and they generally have a lot more money and resources than small fledgling startups. This could have a huge impact on the web.

The Farrelly brothers (makers of There's Something About Mary) spoke out about the violence in schools at the MTV Movie Awards. Don't go to this site if you want to wait until the show airs to find out the winners! It remains to be seen whether MTV will edit out their comments.

Speaking of MTV and editing, here's an article about the new season of The Real World. If you want the season to be a surprise, don't go here!
