I'm cheating a bit because I'm actually writing this on May 11, but I think I have enough ideas to write two entries. So just pretend, OK?

The end of the semester is actually happening, and the work is getting done. I finally wrote that paper I was putting off, and have mentioned in many entires. I sent it off to the professor, so now I have to wait for him to proof it and send it back to me for revisions. Hopefully, there won't be too many. I have nightmares that he will send back my 7 page paper and say something like, "I was thinking more like 50 pages." That's me...worst case scenario girl.

I drove home to surprise my mom for Mother's Day. It was really nice. She was happy to see me. We hung out for a bit, then I made a spreadsheet for my dad so that he could track his golf scores. He's the secretary for his league, so every week he has to tally up all the scores and handicaps and standings. I offered to put formulas in the spreadsheet so that it would do all the calculations for him, but I think he likes doing all the math.

My mom had mentioned that she heard Journey and Foreigner were touring together this summer and they were coming to Darien Lake, a nearby amusement park/concert venue. She wanted to go, but didn't have anyone to go with her. So I offered to go. I figured, if nothing else, it's time spent with my mom and it will fuel my 80's nostalgia. My mom loves Journey, but she wasn't sure who Foreigner was. I was trying to remember songs, but wasn't very successful. I got through "Juke Box Hero" and "I Want to Know What Love Is" and drew a blank. Later, my brother contributed "Cold As Ice" and "Hot Blooded".

We decided to buy the tickets right then, so we drove into the mall. After getting our tickets, we shopped a little bit. My mom wanted to get a wheelbarrow for her gardening, but the store was out. Then we went to Target, which I LOVE! We don't have one yet in Syracuse, but we used to go to the one in Ann Arbor all the time. On Sundays, you could barely find a parking spot. I guess it hasn't quite caught on in Rochester because it wasn't that busy. I got some new shorts and bought Jim a Darth Maul lego set. He wanted the action figure, but they are sold out everywhere.

We got home and my brother and sister-in-law came over to give mom her Mother's Day present. It was good to see them. They brought their dog (Bailey, a black Lab) and I love that dog. She is so sweet and funny. I can't wait until we have a house and can get a dog. Not that I don't love my cats but cats and dogs have different advantages and disadvantages.

After dinner, I drove home. I really love driving by myself, especially when the weather is nice and the traffic isn't too bad. I can listen to whatever I want on the radio, and sing as loud as I want. No one is telling me how fast or slow to go (except the police, I guess). If I want to stop and get a drink, I can. It's very relaxing.

When I got home, I had to study for my database final. It made me very grouchy. I said, "I can't wait until this class is over". Jim said, "I can't wait until this class is over because it makes you so grouchy!" Not to mention that I haven't cleaned the house in about 2 weeks and we are fast approaching the level of squalor. I do the dishes at least, so we won't attract rodents.

One last story...Saturday night, I was sitting on the couch studying and half-heartedly watching Saturday Night Live. Jim had gone to bed, and I had the window behind the couch open. I heard something hitting the screen from the outside, and thought it was a moth or something. Then I thought, "That must have been one big moth!" I turned around and there was a gigantic gray cat hanging from our screen. Our window is a good 5 feet off the ground, and he was halfway up the screen. It scared the crap out of me! I hissed at him and said, "Get down!" and he dropped away. I shut the window, and my two cats came running over to see what was going on. Cats amaze me - how did he know that cats lived in my house? It must be a scent thing. Both my cats are fixed, so they aren't in heat or anything. This same cat (I think) was sitting outside my bedroom window the other night making the scariest noises, and both of my (female) cats were sitting near the window, kind of looking at each other like "What the heck is his problem?" Kind of funny, that.

I used to put links in here that related to the entry, then I changed to a weblog type format, that was just interesting links in general. Which do you prefer?

Need more information on Journey or Foreigner? Did you know Steve Perry left Journey?

One of my favorite things about Target are the home furnishings. They sell kind of hip stuff that doesn't cost a ton of money, and it doesn't look like you got it at a discount store.

This isn't Bailey, but she kinda looks like this. I sure wish I had a scanner.

One of my problems about singing in the car is that I don't know the words. When I'm by myself, I don't care because I just make up words. But sometimes I check the Lyrics Server to see if I am close. They were down for a while, but it looks like they are back up now.

National Geographic not only has the best TV shows, but their websites are awesome. They are packed with content, and the design is wonderful. They even have one about cats!
