So
that's me and Jim. Aw, aren't we cute? Don't you dig Jim's
new glasses? You can't tell from this picture, but the frames
are the exact same color as his hair and it's very flattering.
Also, neither of us has blue skin - it's the reflection off
the monitor. I tried to fix it up in Photoshop, but the camera
is kind of crappy too so there wasn't much I could do. But
in case you thought it was just really cold in our apartment
or something, it's not. Well, it is, but not enough to make
our skin turn blue.
In other news, I might be writing about the WWF for another
site, not Mighty Big TV, and getting paid! Woo hoo! I will
be sure to give out the URL once things are finalized, but
I'm happy that I can kind of justify my WWF obsession by saying
that it's work. Okay, so I'm white trash. Is that so wrong?
Friday night, I went to the mall and accosted strangers for
a survey we are doing for one of my classes about ticket kiosks.
There were two problems with our method. One, no one uses
the ticket kiosk, because the card readers doesn't work. Two,
we are all too shy to just walk up and ask people to use it.
So we wanted a sample group of ten and we only got five. Now
we have to ask friends and family to use it and let us observe.
So Jim and I went back on Sunday and I made him do it, and
while we were there, a girl was playing around with it so
I asked her the questions. Now we're up to seven. Three more
to go!
The diarist.net
Awards finalists are out and everyone is writing about
them in their journals. I really don't get the people who
are really upset about not being nominated. While it certainly
is nice to be recognized by your peers, is that why you do
this? A better source of recognition for me is links in other
people's journals where they say nice things about me, or
e-mails from readers telling me they enjoyed something I wrote.
Not to take anything away from the finalists - from what I've
seen they are all very deserving and almost all of them are
journals I read regularly. And like I said, I wouldn't turn
down an award if offered. I'm just not going to get upset
that I wasn't nominated.
Molly just called me from work to ask about the Mitzpah
charms people used to wear in high school. They were the
pendants and they were split and the girlfriend got half and
the boyfriend got half. She said no one at her work knew what
she was talking about! I thought those were universal - they
sold them at Service Merchandise, and they were such a status
symbol. Ah, high school.

This is probably only funny to you if you've spent the whole
semester doing Human Computer Interaction stuff like me. But
the Jakob Nielsen drinking game cracked me up.
The
Foo Fighters' video for "Learn To Fly" is hilarious.
I am becoming a big fan of these guys. I always kind of liked
them in the back of my mind, but I might have to break down
and buy their CD.
I agree with this
critic's view of Dawson's Creek this season. I used to
look forward to my Guilty Pleasure Dawson nights. Now I really
don't care what happens. I don't know that Kevin Williamson's
departure is the reason for the downturn though. I think they
just need to hire some decent writers.
It seems like there must be so many mitigating factors, that
I don't see how researchers can draw a causal relationship
between putting
children in day-care and weakening the mother-child bond.
Aw, look
at the kittens. Dana
reminded me of these cams and now I'm hooked.
