That is my beautiful cat, Grendel. Doesn't it look like she's
wearing eyeliner? The markings on her face are so pretty.
That black lump behind her ear is Mia. She's pretty too, but
she wouldn't let me take her picture.
So this is going to be kinda short because I have to do my
Party of Five recap for Mighty
Big TV. Not that anyone cares. I seriously don't think
anyone watches the show or reads my recaps. There are usually
like four posts in the forums per week, and two are from me
trying to get conversations started. Now I know how Pamie
felt about Get Real.
So, how much is digital bacle taking over my life? A lot.
I am always obsessed that something important might be on
that I'm missing, so I have to scroll through the onscreen
guide four or five times per fifteen minute period. As if
it changes when I'm not looking. I even made up a song about
digital cable yesterday. It's to the tune of "Seventy-Six
Trombones" from The Music Man. It goes: "Digital
cable just got installed today. Digital CA-BLE just got installed."
There was more but I don't remember it.
So last night I watched part of The Chris Rock Show,
Saving Private Ryan, parts of Object of My Affection,
and Tracey Takes On. I finally only went to bed when
I couldn't keep my eyes open, but I swear I could've watched
more. There are two issues I have, though. One is that when
you bring up the Channel Guide, it automatically puts you
at 2 hours ahead of the current time. So if it's 9 PM and
I want to see what my viewing choices are at 9:30 or 10, I
hit the Guide button on the remote. And it shows me my choices
for 11 PM. What's up with that? Also, there is an option to
enable or disable SAP, but I have no idea what that means.
What does that mean? Anyone?
Mia has been very bad lately. She is noisy most of the time
anyway -- she walks around the house and talks to herself,
or stands in the kitchen and yowls away. Her worst time of
day is when Jim goes to bed and I stay up, or Jim gets up
and I'm still in bed. She doesn't like it when one person
is in bed and one is not. So she cries and cries and cries
and nothing will shut her up. I've tried petting her, shutting
her in the bathroom, playing with her, throwing balls of paper
at her. Nothing works. She's been doing it every night lately.
What is her problem?

A correction from yesterday's sidebar: Jim said that he hasn't
lost respect for Natalie Portman because she's a vegan. He
could just never marry her now. Jim subsists exclusively on
meat, for the most part. So you can see how their lifestyles
are incompatible. I'm sure Natalie is heartbroken. I know
I'm breathing a sigh of relief that I don't have to beat her
up.

This article talks about journalists
leaving the confines of a newspaper or magazine and going
it on their own. This is a great idea, if they can generate
funding or enough traffic to get advertising.
