So congrats to my college roommate, Pam, who had a baby yesterday at 4:42 a.m. Her name is Gabrielle Elaina and she was 8 lbs, 1.5 oz and 21 1/4 inches long. That's a big baby! Her father, Dave, e-mailed me yesterday to let me know. She will join her sister Tori, who is 2. I can't believe that someone I went to college with, who is only a few months older than me, has 2 kids! And she and Dave started dating after Jim and I did (by a few months, anyway). That's kind of scary. But I'm psyched for them and am also excited to find a cool present to send them. When Tori was born (actually just before she was born) I got a copy of Mary Chapin Carpenter's children's book signed for them. And then I forgot to send it. So I just gave it to them when I saw Pam back in July. Nothing like giving them a present 2 years later! That's why I love shopping online - I can just pick something out and type in their address, and it gets sent right to them! In other news, I thought I was done with the website for my internship, but they found a couple of problems and e-mailed me today. So I'll be fixing those. Nothing major, but stuff I should have noticed so I'm kind of annoyed with myself. Then again, it took them 2 weeks to notice, so obviously it wasn't that major! I encouraged them to have their members check out the test site and no one caught any of these problems, so I guess I shouldn't beat myself up over it. But I do, because I'm a Virgo and thus a perfectionist. I know Kymm is laughing at that last sentence, given that she always catches my screwed up Previous and Next links. Serena (one of my classmates from school, who I will have to add to the cast list!) asked me about my site redesign, which I have been threatening to do now for about a month. I still want to do it, but fixing the internship stuff and building the supergush site take priority right now. Maybe by the end of the month, but I'm not making any promises. You never know what opportunities will arise! It's weird because I was all worried that we would be eating Ramen noodles since I'm not working this semester, but suddenly I've had all these odd jobs come out of the woodwork. I mean, none of them are going to earn me my first million, but every little bit helps, and it helps ME to feel like I'm contributing to our household financially, instead of just being a big parasite. |
Warning: clicking on these links will launch a new browser window. Randy sent me this link to an article about "nutritional supplements" that cracked me up, particularly given my failed experiment with Valerian. A reader sent me this link: the Dead People Server. You know how you're talking about a celebrity and aren't sure if the person is still alive? Go here to settle the bet. A picture of the Earth taken from Mir during an eclipse. People Magazine, right on top of the rumors about Ben Affleck being gay. Wasn't that a story like 2 years ago? Don't forget the MTV Music Video Awards tonight. Here are EW's picks. I had never given a second's thought to Matthew Perry's hair until this article. And I never shall again. I had to link to this because all the models look dead to me, but there's nekkid people here so don't click if you're offended. |
