So I'm smoke-free for nearly 2 days. This is probably the longest I've gone without a cigarette in 7 years. Not nicotine free - I've been using the Nicorette gum. I don't know how helpful it is. I might just switch to regular gum because I think the chewing action helps more than the nicotine. But I'm all grouchy and having trouble concentrating. I'll try not to take it out on you! I awoke yesterday to the sound of a backhoe (or some similar machinery) in our front yard. I couldn't figure out what was going on, but when I went to the store last night, I noticed the front yard was all torn up. This morning when I turned on the water for the shower, there was more of it than usual! Hey, water pressure! What a novel concept! So, they must have replaced our water pipe or something. Pretty exciting. I think I actually got all the shampoo out of my hair for the first time since we moved here. I had my classes today. My lack of attention span combined with general tiredness did not help. I made it through the morning class OK (with liberal application of coffee), then went out to lunch with some classmates. My afternoon class was another story - I was seriously nodding off. Serena nearly burst out laughing when one time I almost pitched forward out of my chair as I nodded off. During the break I get a Pepsi from the vending machines and that helped a bit. I was far from the only one though - everyone was yawning. It was chilly here today and I loved it! That's all I have to say about that. I went grocery shopping last night to keep myself busy (see paragraph 2 above) and ended up buying a bunch of crap I don't need. I was just so desparate for something to do out of the house that I was like, "Oh, a stainless steel mixing bowl. I've been looking for one of those! Oh, and look Gel Roller pens. I've heard those are good, too. Maybe I'll pick up some Pyrex dishes while I'm here." I mean, what am I, fifty years old? Jim's mom forgot my birthday and called today all apologetic. I wasn't upset - his family doesn't really make a big deal out of birthdays. His mom gets all the kid magazine subscriptions for their birthday so I just renewed my subscription to Fast Company. I'm not digging it as much as I used to, but I couldn't think of another one I want. Gotta go - they're finally airing "Earshot", the lost episode of Buffy and I don't want to miss one minute! Later. |
Warning: clicking on these links will launch a new browser window. Interesting - Lycos gives out info about what topics people are searching on. I guess it's as good a barometer of popcult as any. (from CamWorld) Jim will probably kill someone if Jethro Tull don't make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame soon. A sleep quiz. Dude, my sleep schedule is so messed up. I mean, it's my own fault, but it is. Google, the search engine, is out of beta. When I search on "fresh hell", my site comes up third. No new Real World this week - what's up with that? Time for Buffy! Gotta go! More tomorrow, I promise. Since I don't have a RW summary to do, I'll try to do an extra long entry/list of links. |
