I was eating some pizza rolls today, and I started thinking, "Gosh, they must have changed the recipe or something because these are REALLY good!" Then I realized that I just have taste buds again! They always say that smoking dulls your taste buds and sense of smell, but this was the first example of that I've seen. So that was kind of exciting. Day 5 by the way. Still sucks.

Jim and I were watching the SNL 25 years of music special on VH1 last night. It was the sketch where Phil Hartman plays Frank Sinatra recording the Duets album. God, I miss Phil Hartman. He was so incredible. One of Jim's favorite lines is from Hartman's Sinatra impression. It was the one where they were all on a debate style talk show with Sting playing Billy Idol and Jan Hooks playing Sinead O'Connor, and Hartman/Sinatra yells "I've got chunks of punks like you in my stool!". Stool=funny.

We went out to dinner last night with my friends from school. Serena, Anne, Jen and Andrea took me out to dinner for my birthday. We went to the Yukon River Grill, because I had never been there. I got the stuffed shrimp, if you were wondering. It was excellent. Here's what was not excellent - the Yukon potatoes. It's the house specialty. It's basically Smashed Potatoes with Red Peppers and cheese. Sounds decent right? Sucked. Sucked a lot.

It was interesting - a lot of my friends are going to be done with the program in December so they are all looking for jobs right now. There was a career fair at school this week which I did not attend because A) there weren't many local companies and B) I don't need a job until May. Well, plus C) I hate getting dressed up and D) I'm lazy. But a bunch of my friends went and they were discussing the various companies. It was weird because so many companies complain that they can't find IT people. And yet all they did at this career fair was collect resumes. My friends mostly said they shouldn't have even bothered. Any time they tried to ask questions about the company, the representative would just say, "Check our website" and hand them a free pen. I don't get it. What a waste of time.

But some of my friends have job offers already (and some have multiple job offers) so that bodes well. My friend Jen is already trying to find me a job - I think she missed her calling as a career counselor because that's what she likes to do!

Jim and I are going to my parents' house this weekend. I have to get my dress fitted for Gretchen's wedding at the end of October, and this seemed like as good a weekend as any. I'm kind of excited about Freaks and Geeks on Saturday. And don't forget Felicity on Sunday!

Oh, the Friends season premiere! We rushed to get home in time, but it was kind of anticlimactic. There were only like 2 laugh out loud moments for me (and I think both were Ross, surprisingly enough!). I think I hyped it up too much in my mind. I'm sure when I see it in reruns it will be funny again. Mary thinks Courteney Cox Arquette is preggers - I don't see it. But I wanted to get it down here in case she's right - so she has proof of her prediction. Joey is funny. The fact that Joey's favorite food is sandwiches never stops being funny to me. Have a good weekend!

This Brunching Shuttlecocks article on Internet humor is right on the money, and kind of similar to my list of web peeves.

Digging my vanity plate? Make your own! I could spend hours on this site, and I'm not sure why.

Courteney Cox is taking the last name Arquette. Fine, but is the fact that her co-stars all added Arquette to their last names during the credits last night really news?

Does NBC really think people are willing to accept Suddenly Susan and Veronica's Closet? Cancel them already!

Kramer (a.k.a. Michael Richards) gets a new sitcom.

I'd like to predict that the Fight Club is going to do incredible box office, and then columnists will write articles about what it means when so many Americans are drawn to such a violent movie. Cue the hand-wringing.

Hey, come on over to the Mighty Big TV forums and chat with us! All the cool kids are doing it.
